So that everything fits perfectly

For the most important question of all and on the wedding day, everything has to be perfect: the ring should fit perfectly. Anyone who has ever had to determine a ring size knows that a great deal of experience, knowledge, and finesse is required. Our on-site experts are your point of contact here. Together with you, they will determine the correct ring size. An overview of our partners near you. You might also want to determine the ring size yourself, for an engagement ring, for example. In this case, the bride-to-be should not suspect a thing. We have compiled various options for determining the ring size for you.

Determine your finger circumference

Determine your finger circumference

The finger circumference indicates the inner circumference of the wedding ring. You can easily determine this yourself at home by placing a thin thread around the desired ring finger. Cut the thread where the ends meet. Measure the length of the thread with a ruler: the measured length corresponds to the inner circumference of the ring in millimetres. Our tip: The ring also has to pass over the knuckle – so don’t forget to take this into account!

The inner diameter

The inner diameter

You want to surprise your dream partner and secretly buy a ring, but you need to find out the ring size without being noticed? With this method that’s no problem: First you need a well-fitting ring belonging to your partner. Rings that are currently being worn are particularly suitable. It’s perfect if the new ring is similar to the old one in profile shape and width, because differing shapes can lead to variations in ring size. Measure the inner diameter of the ring using a ruler or caliper. Multiply this value by the factor 3.14 and you will obtain the required inner circumference.

Influence of profile and ring width

Influence of profile and ring width

The profile shape and width of a ring should not be underestimated – they significantly influence the ring size. For example, narrow rings are easier to put on and take off than wider designs. If you opt for rings with a rounded inner side, note that these usually slide over the finger more easily than versions with a straight inner side.

Things you should note

  • Ring size can change over the course of the day. In the morning our fingers are usually slimmer than in the evening.
  • Depending on the temperature, the ring size can also fluctuate. Fingers are slimmer and more delicate on cold days than on warm, hot days. Also pay attention to both indoor and outdoor temperatures!
  • Over time, our bodies change. This is not a problem in itself, but weight gain and loss do affect our ring size. In many cases, our experts can adjust the ring size to suit your current stage of life.
  • Would you like to wear your wedding rings on your left or right hand? Be aware of this before making your purchase, as ring sizes vary from finger to finger depending on the hand. Our experts on site will be happy to advise you before and after your purchase on possible adjustments to your ring.

On which hand do you wear a wedding ring?

On which hand do you wear a wedding ring?

We are often asked on which hand and which finger engagement and wedding rings are worn. Basically: there is no right or wrong – every couple decides for themselves. Many people follow traditions: in Germany and Austria, the wedding ring is usually worn on the right hand, the engagement ring on the left. Internationally, couples often prefer the left hand – here the ring is meant to be closer to the heart. After the wedding, many women wear both rings on the same finger.
